Why should I become a member?

Becoming a member of The Suffolk Foundation enables you, as a member, to put something back into the local community. We use the income from membership subscriptions to support our work in the community. It helps us to ensure that our grants are being targeted where they are most needed. By joining today you will be helping us to improve the quality of life for local people in Suffolk – today, tomorrow and in the future.

Whilst this is the main reason for joining we would also like to offer some tangible benefits as well, including:

  • A membership certificate
  • A copy of our Annual Review detailing our work
  • Copies of our newsletter
  • Acknowledgement of all members in our Annual Review (unless you choose to be anonymous)
  • An invitation to attend our Annual General Meeting

Who can become a member?

We offer three types of membership: individual, community or voluntary and corporate. You can choose to pay annually, with your membership fee becoming renewable on the anniversary of your joining. Alternatively, we would be delighted to welcome you as a Lifetime member and would be happy to discuss this option with you.

Giftaid

If you are an individual, a sole trader or a partner in a business, and you pay tax, we would like to encourage you to make a donation under the Gift Aid scheme. All that you need to do is sign the Gift Aid declaration attached and this will allow the Foundation to increase your membership subscription by an extra 28% from the Inland Revenue. Additionally, if you are a higher rate taxpayer, you can reclaim 18% personal tax relief by entering your subscription details on your self-assessment tax form.

A typical example would be someone becoming a Gold Member at £600. By signing the declaration, the Foundation can reclaim an extra £168 from the Inland Revenue, at no extra cost to you. If you are a 40% tax payer, you can then reclaim a further £138 yourself.

The membership fees are as follows

Community and voluntary groups: £24 per annum

Individuals and corporate: We offer 5 levels of subscriptions to recognise different levels of support.

  • Member: £24 per annum or £2 per month
  • Silver Member: £120 per annum or £10 per month
  • Gold Member: £600 per annum or £50 per month
  • County Member: £1200 per annum or £100 per month
  • Life Member: We offer various life membership options – please contact us for details.
